What is
Profhilo?
Profhilo is a treatment based on highly concentrated hyaluronic acid, but it does not work like a filler. The difference is important to understand before choosing.
Profhilo, by contrast, is very fluid and spreads widely under the skin after injection. It therefore adds no volume and does not change your features. It works differently: by attracting water and stimulating your cells, it prompts your skin to produce collagen and elastin again, the fibres that give it suppleness and firmness.
In practice, the result does not come from the product but from your skin. This is why it is called biostimulation rather than filling, and why the effect takes several weeks to appear.
Profhilo suits skin that lacks radiance and tone rather than faces that have lost volume. It gives good results on dull cheeks, thin dehydrated skin, a crêped neck and the backs of the hands. These are areas where fillers are a poor fit.
The injection uses a precise technique: five points on each side of the face, chosen because they let the product spread safely and cover the whole area. There are few of them, which makes the session quick.
The standard protocol comprises two sessions a month apart. The result settles between four and eight weeks and lasts around six months.
The physician will also tell you when Profhilo is not the right answer, and when volume or muscle needs addressing instead. Skin quality, volume and muscle are three separate questions, and the consultation is there to work out which one is actually behind what bothers you.

Prior consultation
Avoid alcohol, aspirin and anti-inflammatories for 48 hours: they encourage bruising. Report any pregnancy, breastfeeding, autoimmune condition or known allergy to hyaluronic acid. Come without make-up. We postpone the session in case of skin infection, a cold sore outbreak or active inflammatory acne on the area. Try not to have an important event within the following twenty-four hours.
Application of the treatment
The physician marks the five injection points on each side of the face, chosen so the product can spread widely and safely. The skin is disinfected. The product is then placed slowly and deeply at those precise points. A small bump appears at each one: this is normal and expected, and settles within a few hours. The session is short.
Post-Procedure Care & Follow-Up
The small bumps usually disappear within four to twenty-four hours. Do not massage the area: the product needs to spread on its own. Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, steam rooms and sun for 48 hours. You can wear make-up from the next day. The second session is scheduled four weeks later.
