The treatment

What is
Medical rhinoplasty?

Medical rhinoplasty reshapes the nose using small hyaluronic acid injections, with no operation and no recovery time. The principle can seem counter-intuitive: product is added to make the nose look slimmer.

The explanation is optical. What the eye reads in a nose is mostly its profile line and the way light catches it. By slightly filling the dip above a bump, the break in the line disappears and the profile becomes straight. By supporting the tip, it is lifted by a few millimetres, which is often enough to change the expression of the whole face.

This treatment answers specific situations well: a moderate bump on the profile, a drooping tip, a nose that looks deviated, a hollow left after surgery, a slight asymmetry.

It is important to be clear about what it does not do, and our physicians will tell you before you book. It does not reduce the size of the nose. It adds, it removes nothing. It does not narrow wide nostrils. It corrects no breathing problem. If what you want is a reduction, only surgery will deliver it, and we will refer you to a surgeon.

One safety point deserves your attention. The nose is a high-risk area: the vessels supplying it are fine and connect directly to those of the eye. A badly placed injection can have serious consequences. This procedure must never be entrusted to anyone who is not a physician, and it demands a thorough command of facial anatomy.

The result is visible immediately and lasts twelve to eighteen months.

Why choose this treatment

  • Result visible immediately, in the mirror, before you leave the clinic
  • No operation, no general anaesthetic, no time off work
  • Reversible: the product can be dissolved by a physician if needed
  • A session of only fifteen to thirty minutes
  • Effectively corrects a moderate bump, a drooping tip or an asymmetry
  • Lets you try a change before committing to permanent surgery
  • Lasts twelve to eighteen months, longer than on most facial areas

How it works

The treatment
process.

01
Before

Prior consultation

Avoid alcohol, aspirin and anti-inflammatories for 48 hours: they encourage bruising. You must report any previous nose surgery, any filler already injected in the area and any breathing problem. Never alter a blood thinner on your own. We postpone the session in case of skin infection or ongoing sinusitis. Come without make-up, or allow time to remove it here.

02
During

Application of the treatment

The physician photographs your profile, then explains precisely what can and cannot be changed. The skin is carefully disinfected. Very small amounts of gel are then placed deeply, against the bone and cartilage, at three to five points. The physician injects slowly and checks the colour of the skin regularly. You see the result in a mirror before leaving.

03
After

Post-Procedure Care & Follow-Up

Slight swelling and sometimes a small bruise are possible for two to three days. Do not massage the nose and do not wear glasses resting on it for 48 hours. Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas and sun for two days. Contact us immediately, without waiting, if pain increases, if the skin turns white or mottled, or if your vision changes.

Frequently asked questions

What you'd like
to know before your session.

Can my nose be made smaller?+
No. Product is added, not removed. A nose can be made to look slimmer or straighter by working with light and the profile line, but if you want to genuinely reduce its volume, only surgery can do that. The physician will tell you so at the consultation.
Is it risky?+
The nose is the most delicate area of the face: its vessels are fine and connected to those of the eye. In experienced hands, with slow, deep injection, the procedure is controlled. That is precisely why it should never be performed outside a medical setting.
Does it hurt?+
Far less than patients imagine. The gel contains an anaesthetic that works immediately, and a cream can be applied beforehand. What you feel is mostly pressure rather than pain.
How long does it last?+
Twelve to eighteen months, often longer than on other facial areas: the nose moves very little, so the product breaks down slowly. Some patients go on to space their sessions two years apart.
Is it reversible?+
Yes. As it is hyaluronic acid, a physician can dissolve it with an enzyme if the result does not suit you. That is an important safeguard, especially on such a visible area.
Can I have it if I have already had nose surgery?+
It is possible, and is in fact a common indication for correcting a small remaining irregularity. Wait at least a year after the operation, however, and be sure to report it: scar tissue changes the technique and calls for extra caution.
Could it affect my breathing?+
No, the product is placed on the surface of the nasal framework, not inside the airway. That said, if you already breathe poorly, this treatment will not change it: a specialist opinion is needed.
