The treatment

What is
Facial and body mesotherapy?

Mesotherapy involves placing small amounts of active ingredients directly into the skin, exactly where the effect is wanted. It is a long-established technique, born in pain medicine and used in aesthetics for several decades. The principle is simple: a cream, however good, struggles to cross the skin barrier. Injecting bypasses that obstacle. The same procedure then serves two very different aims depending on the area treated.

ON THE FACE
The mixture generally combines non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid, which hydrates deeply, with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. The physician adapts it to your skin: more hydration for dry, tight skin, more antioxidants for a dull, tired complexion or one marked by smoking. It is the most affordable skin treatment in our range, and often the first step for patients who have never had injections. It changes neither your features nor your volumes: it works purely on skin quality. It also suits the neck, décolleté and backs of the hands. The usual protocol comprises three sessions two to four weeks apart, then maintenance two to four times a year.

ON THE BODY
The actives are placed in contact with the areas where fat accumulates or fluid stagnates: outer thighs, inner thighs and knees, stomach, love handles and the backs of the arms. On a localised fat deposit, the physician uses actives that encourage fat cells to release their contents; on a heavy, swollen leg, the emphasis shifts to actives that stimulate circulation and drainage. We should be frank about what this treatment can do: it works on stubborn areas that persist despite a sound lifestyle, but it does not make you lose weight, replaces neither diet nor exercise, and has no lasting effect if your weight continues to rise. The results seen in practice are real but vary from person to person, and the published data remain less robust than for other techniques. The usual protocol comprises three to five sessions one to two weeks apart, with photographs and measurements taken before starting.

Why choose this treatment

  • One technique applied to both the face and the body
  • Face: hydrates deeply, where a cream does not penetrate
  • Face: restores radiance to a dull complexion, without changing your features
  • Body: targets stubborn areas that resist exercise and dieting
  • Body: improves heavy legs and the feeling of swelling
  • Several areas can be treated in a single session
  • No recovery time: you resume your activities the same day

How it works

The treatment
process.

01
Before

Prior consultation

Avoid alcohol, aspirin and anti-inflammatories for 48 hours. Report any pregnancy, breastfeeding, diabetes, clotting disorder, allergy, recurrent cold sores or blood-thinning therapy. Face: come without make-up and avoid exfoliation and strong sun in the preceding days. Body: do not come fasting, drink normally and wear comfortable clothing. Photographs and measurements are taken before the first session.

02
During

Application of the treatment

The physician examines the area, marks the boundaries to be treated and, on the body, takes measurements. The skin is cleansed and disinfected. You feel brief pinpricks, sometimes a sensation of warmth or tingling. On the face, the skin reddens and small raised areas appear: this is expected and temporary. No dressing is needed and you leave immediately.

03
After

Post-Procedure Care & Follow-Up

Face: redness, small raised areas and tenderness last from a few hours to one night, no make-up for twelve hours, moisturise generously and apply sun protection. Body: redness, tenderness and small bruises are common for one to three days, drink plenty and walk regularly. In both cases, avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours, saunas, steam rooms and hot baths for 48 hours. The next session is scheduled one to four weeks later.

Frequently asked questions

What you'd like
to know before your session.

What is the difference between facial and body mesotherapy?+
The procedure is the same, the aim is not. On the face, the work is on skin quality: hydration and radiance. On the body, it targets localised fat deposits and fluid retention. The mixtures, the areas and the number of sessions all differ.
Why inject rather than apply a cream?+
Because the skin is an effective barrier: most of a cream stays on the surface. Injecting places the actives directly in the dermis, where the cells work. That is the whole difference between feeding the surface and feeding the skin itself.
Will it change my face?+
No. No volume is added and no line is filled. Your skin looks suppler, brighter and better hydrated, but your features stay exactly the same.
Will it make me lose weight?+
No, and it is essential to understand that before starting. The body treatment targets localised deposits that persist despite a sound lifestyle. It replaces neither diet nor exercise, and will have no lasting effect if your weight continues to rise.
How many centimetres will I lose, and what does the science say?+
Nobody can honestly promise you a figure. Results vary with the area, how long the deposit has been there and your lifestyle, and the published data remain less robust than for other techniques. That is why we take measurements and photographs before starting.
Does it hurt?+
The injections are numerous but superficial and brief. Most patients describe tingling rather than pain. On the body, the sensation of warmth surprises patients more than the pain; the inner thighs are the most sensitive area.
How many sessions are needed?+
Three sessions two to four weeks apart for the face, three to five sessions one to two weeks apart for the body. If no improvement appears after three body sessions, the physician will tell you and suggest something else.
Does it treat cellulite?+
Partly. Mesotherapy improves the appearance of the skin and the associated fluid retention, but cellulite also depends on how the fibrous bands beneath the skin are arranged. Carboxytherapy is often better suited, and the two combine well.
Can the neck and hands be treated?+
Yes, and it is often a good idea. These areas are poorly protected from the sun and age quickly, yet they rarely receive any care. They respond well to this kind of deep hydration.
What are the contraindications?+
Pregnancy and breastfeeding, skin infection or a wound on the area, a cold sore outbreak, active inflammatory acne, an uncontrolled clotting disorder, poorly controlled diabetes, a known allergy to any component.
Are there side effects?+
Redness, tenderness and sometimes small bruises, lasting from a few hours to a few days depending on the area. More marked reactions are rare. Contact us if pain, warmth or swelling persists beyond forty-eight hours.
