Radiesse
Prompts your skin to rebuild collagen, with an immediate supporting effect as a bonus. Ideal for the jawline, neck, décolleté and hands, with a result lasting twelve to eighteen months.
The treatment
What is
Radiesse?
Radiesse is an injectable product made of calcium hydroxyapatite microspheres, a mineral close to the one in your bones, suspended in a gel. It works in two ways, which sets it apart from other injectables.
First, it immediately provides support where it is placed: the area looks denser by the end of the session. Second, and this is its main value, those microspheres prompt your cells to make collagen and elastin again, the fibres that give skin its firmness. Within a few months the gel breaks down, but the collagen your body has produced remains. This is called biostimulation: the result does not come from the product but from your own skin.
At the Petit-Lancy clinic, Radiesse is offered in two different ways. Concentrated, it gives structure to the jawline, the temples or hollow cheeks. Diluted and placed superficially, it improves skin quality on areas that are hard to treat otherwise: neck, décolleté, backs of the hands, inner arms, knees.
One important difference from hyaluronic acid should be understood before choosing: Radiesse is not reversible. No enzyme can dissolve it. The procedure therefore calls for solid experience and precise placement. In return, it lasts longer, twelve to eighteen months on average, and the improvement in firmness persists beyond that.
The result is not judged on the day but after two to three months, the time collagen needs to form. One to three sessions are offered depending on the area and the goal.
Because the change builds slowly, we photograph the area at the first session so that progress can be judged on evidence rather than impression.
Why choose this treatment
- Dual action: immediate support plus collagen made by your own skin
- Long-lasting: twelve to eighteen months, often more in terms of firmness
- Excellent on difficult areas: neck, décolleté, backs of the hands, knees
- Gives structure to the jawline without a filled look
- Gradual and therefore very natural: nobody sees an abrupt change
- One to three sessions depending on the area, four to six weeks apart
How it works
The treatment
process.
Prior consultation
Avoid alcohol, aspirin and anti-inflammatories for 48 hours: they encourage bruising. Never alter a blood thinner on your own. Report any pregnancy, breastfeeding or autoimmune condition. Important: tell the physician if you have already had a filler in the area and which one, as this changes the technique. Postpone in case of skin infection.
Application of the treatment
The physician marks the areas to be treated and disinfects the skin. Depending on the goal, the product is placed deeply with a needle to give structure, or more superficially with a cannula when improving skin quality on the neck or hands. Careful massage then distributes the product evenly, an essential step to avoid any irregularity.
Post-Procedure Care & Follow-Up
Swelling and bruising are possible for two to three days. Massage the area if the physician asks you to, following the instructions precisely. Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, steam rooms and sun for 48 hours. Do not worry if the result seems to fade after a few weeks: that is normal, collagen takes over in the months that follow.
