The treatment

What is
Skin Cancer Screening?

Skin cancer screening combines preventive skin protection with the early detection of suspicious changes. During a professional screening, the entire skin is examined for melanoma, non melanoma skin cancer and possible precancerous lesions. This includes malignant melanoma, basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma.

In addition to moles, new, rough, hardened, bleeding or non healing areas of skin are also assessed. A dermatoscope allows suspicious structures to be viewed under magnification. If necessary, digital documentation enables skin changes to be compared over a longer period.

How it works

The treatment
process.

01
Before

Before the treatment

Please inform us about any new or changing skin lesions and any history of skin cancer affecting you or your family. Previous medical reports and photographs can be helpful for monitoring changes over time. On the day of the examination, avoid cosmetics, heavily tinted body care products and nail varnish wherever possible. Wear clothing that can be removed easily.

02
During

During the treatment

The dermatologist systematically examines your skin from head to toe, including areas that are difficult to see, such as the scalp, ears, soles of the feet and nails. Suspicious areas are examined more closely with a dermatoscope and digitally documented if necessary. If a suspicious finding is identified, the necessary further investigations will be discussed with you.

03
After

After the treatment

No special aftercare is required following a normal skin cancer screening. Continue to check your skin regularly, protect it consistently from UV radiation and avoid tanning beds. The appropriate interval between future examinations will be determined based on your individual risk profile. Suspicious findings may require further monitoring, a tissue sample or surgical removal.
