Removal of Benign Skin Lesions
The treatment
What is
Removal of Benign Skin Lesions?
Benign skin lesions such as fibromas, seborrhoeic keratoses, cysts, lipomas or angiomas are generally harmless. However, they may be cosmetically bothersome, become repeatedly inflamed or irritated by clothing and jewellery.
Before removal, the skin lesion is carefully examined by a dermatologist. Depending on its type, size and location, treatment options include surgical removal, superficial shave removal, curettage, cryotherapy or electrocautery. The procedure is usually performed on an outpatient basis under local anaesthesia. If the diagnosis is unclear, the removed tissue may also be examined histologically.
How it works
The treatment
process.
Before the treatment
The skin lesion is examined by a dermatologist and, if necessary, assessed using a dermatoscope. Together, we will discuss the most suitable treatment method and the expected results. Please inform us about any medical conditions, allergies and all medications you are taking. Blood thinning medication should only be adjusted after consultation with your physician.
During the treatment
The treatment area is disinfected and locally anaesthetised if necessary. The skin lesion is then removed using the most suitable method. Following surgical excision, the wound is closed with fine sutures. Depending on the findings, the removed tissue may be sent for histological examination.
After the treatment
After the procedure, the treated area is protected with a dressing. You will receive detailed instructions on wound care and physical rest. If sutures were used, they will be removed after several days, depending on the area of the body. Consistent sun protection supports discreet healing and reduces the risk of changes in skin pigmentation.
