Contact Dermatitis
The treatment
What is
Contact Dermatitis?
Contact dermatitis is an inflammatory skin reaction caused by contact with irritating substances or allergens. Typical symptoms include redness, itching, burning, scaling, blisters or cracked skin.
Irritant contact dermatitis may be caused by substances such as water, soaps or cleaning products. Allergic contact dermatitis develops as a delayed reaction to substances such as nickel, fragrances or preservatives. A careful examination and, if necessary, a patch test help us identify possible triggers. Treatment includes avoiding the cause, using protective skincare and applying individually prescribed anti inflammatory medication.
How it works
The treatment
process.
Before the treatment
During a personal consultation, we will discuss your symptoms and possible triggers at work, at home and in everyday life. These may include skincare products, cosmetics, jewellery, gloves and cleaning products. If possible, bring the product packaging or ingredient lists with you. Existing medications or skin treatments should only be paused after consultation with your physician.
During the treatment
The skin and the distribution of the affected areas are carefully examined. If a contact allergy is suspected, selected test substances may be applied to the back using patches. These usually remain in place for approximately 48 hours. The skin is then examined at scheduled intervals to reliably detect delayed reactions.
After the treatment
Based on the diagnosis, you will receive an individual treatment plan. This may include consistently avoiding identified triggers, using moisturising skincare products, taking suitable protective measures and applying anti inflammatory creams. Following a positive patch test, we will explain where the relevant substance may be found and how to avoid contact with it as much as possible in everyday life.
