Acne
The treatment
What is
Acne?
Acne is an inflammatory condition affecting the sebaceous glands and hair follicles. It can appear as blackheads, papules, pustules or deeper nodules on the face, back or chest. Acne affects not only teenagers but also many adults. It is not caused by poor hygiene, but by a combination of sebum production, blocked pores, bacteria, inflammation and hormonal influences.
Treatment depends on the type and severity of the acne. Options include prescription creams or gels, oral medication, adapted skincare and, where appropriate, supplementary peels or device based treatments. The aim is to reduce existing inflammation, prevent new breakouts and lower the risk of acne scarring.
How it works
The treatment
process.
Before the treatment
During the dermatological examination, the type and severity of the acne and the affected areas of skin will be assessed. Existing scars, previous treatments, skincare products, medications and possible hormonal factors will also be considered. Please inform us if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or planning a pregnancy, as certain acne medications must not be used in these circumstances. We will then create an individual treatment plan.
During the treatment
Depending on the type of acne, prescription creams or gels containing ingredients that reduce inflammation and help clear blocked pores may be used. Moderate or severe acne may also require oral medication. Medical peels or other dermatological procedures can complement the treatment. The application, dosage and appropriate skincare routine will be explained in detail and individually adjusted throughout the course of treatment.
After the treatment
The progress of the treatment will be reviewed after several weeks and adjusted if necessary. Prescribed products should be used regularly and exactly as instructed by your physician. Gentle cleansing, non comedogenic skincare and daily sun protection support the treatment. Spots should not be squeezed, as this can worsen inflammation and increase the risk of scarring. Once the acne has been successfully treated, maintenance treatment may be recommended.
