The treatment

What is
Mole Check?

During a mole check, moles and other skin lesions are carefully examined for possible signs of skin cancer. Particular attention is paid to new or changing pigmented lesions, as well as areas of skin that bleed, itch, develop a crust or do not heal.

In addition to a visual examination, a dermatoscope is used to provide a magnified view of deeper skin structures. If necessary, suspicious moles can be digitally documented and compared during future examinations. If a skin lesion appears suspicious, a tissue sample or complete surgical removal may be recommended for histological examination.

How it works

The treatment
process.

01
Before

Before the treatment

Please inform us about any new or changing moles and any family history of skin cancer. If available, bring previous medical reports or photographs with you. On the day of the examination, avoid cosmetics, heavily tinted body care products and nail varnish wherever possible so that your skin and nails can be assessed thoroughly.

02
During

During the treatment

The skin is systematically examined for suspicious changes. Individual moles are viewed under magnification using a dermatoscope and digitally photographed if necessary. The dermatologist assesses features such as shape, border, colour and any changes over time. If a suspicious lesion is identified, the next diagnostic or surgical steps will be discussed with you.

03
After

After the treatment

No special aftercare is required following a normal examination. Continue to check your skin regularly and look out for new or changing lesions. The appropriate interval between medical examinations will be determined based on your individual risk. If any suspicious findings are identified, we will arrange further monitoring, a tissue sample or surgical removal.
