The treatment

What is
Warts?

Warts are benign skin growths caused by the human papillomavirus, or HPV. They can develop on the hands, feet or other areas of the body, spread to other parts of the skin and be transmitted to other people. Some warts disappear on their own, while others persist, cause discomfort or are considered cosmetically bothersome.

After a dermatological examination, we will select the most appropriate treatment. Depending on the type, size and location of the wart, options may include freezing with liquid nitrogen, laser treatment or surgical removal. As the viruses that cause warts may remain in the surrounding skin, repeated treatments may be necessary and warts can return.

How it works

The treatment
process.

01
Before

Before the treatment

First, we examine the skin lesion to determine whether it is actually a wart. We consider the type, size, number and location of the warts, as well as any previous treatment attempts. Please inform us about medical conditions such as diabetes, circulatory problems or a weakened immune system, and about any medications you take regularly.

02
During

During the treatment

Depending on the findings, the wart may be frozen with liquid nitrogen, treated with a laser or surgically removed. Local anaesthesia may be used depending on the method and the area of the body being treated. If the skin is heavily keratinised, the surface may first be carefully removed. The treated area may then be protected with a dressing if required.

03
After

After the treatment

Temporary redness, swelling, blistering or scabbing may occur and are often part of the normal healing process. The treated area should be kept clean and should not be scratched. You will receive individual instructions on wound care and physical activity. If further sessions are required, they will be scheduled at appropriate intervals.
