The treatment

What is
Allergies and Hives?

Allergies can cause symptoms such as itching, skin rashes, swelling or respiratory problems. Hives, medically known as urticaria, cause suddenly appearing, intensely itchy raised areas of skin and sometimes deeper swelling. However, hives are not always caused by a classic allergy.

A thorough medical assessment helps to identify possible triggers and rule out other causes. Depending on the symptoms, targeted allergy tests or blood tests may be recommended. Treatment is tailored to the individual and often includes modern antihistamines. Further treatment options are available for chronic or difficult to treat hives.

How it works

The treatment
process.

01
Before

Before the treatment

During a personal consultation, we will assess the type, duration and frequency of your symptoms, as well as possible triggers, existing medical conditions and medications. Photographs of the skin changes and a symptom diary can be helpful for the assessment. Antihistamines should only be stopped before a planned allergy test if instructed by your physician.

02
During

During the treatment

The skin is carefully examined. Depending on the suspected cause, targeted skin or blood tests may be performed. Comprehensive allergy testing is not always necessary for hives. We will then create a personalised treatment plan, which may include avoiding confirmed triggers, taking antihistamines or considering further treatment options.

03
After

After the treatment

You will receive detailed guidance on how to use your medication and manage possible triggers. Keeping a symptom diary can help assess the progression of your symptoms and the effectiveness of the treatment. If necessary, a follow up appointment will be arranged to adjust the treatment or carry out further investigations.
